Her paws moved her through the Field of Life. Finally spring had arrived and she breathed in the different scents. Her chocolate brown eyes scanned around. The snow was still somewhat melting in some places and she thought 'Goodbye winter' Another spring year for her in the reaper pack. How she still put up with it sometimes she had forgotten. She stopped watching a small herd of deer move in the early morning light.
Snowfoot sighed and caught the scent of a wolf and spotted it coming towards her. Her eyes went to the ground as she lowered her fluffy tail and the wolf passed her by. Each day since she was 6 months old she had to put up with the treatment. Her eyes closed as she sat down remembering the dreadful memory. Then she shook her head and opened her eyes looking around in the growing morning light.

Spring. A time that all animals seemed to be out frolicking. Who wouldn't want to be though? It was the perfect temperature and the sun felt very nice. The rabbit that she was currently snacking on thought so too until she'd snagged it.
The wolfess' dull gray gaze scanned the field and landed on a canine farther out. The canine was different in the fact that it was a dog and not a wolf. Her eyes locked onto the dog as she ate, curious as to what she was doing. Unlike most other wolves Briar didn't look down upon the dogs, she simply viewed them as other members of her pack. Truly she wouldn't mind if the dogs were equal and didn't go out of her way to be rude to them.
Now she watched another wolf walk by the canine without so much as a nod of acknowledgement. She looked down at her half-eaten rabbit and realized that she wasn't really hungry. With a sigh of defeat she grabbed it and trotted over to the dog. As she grew closer she could tell that the female dog was a fellow scout, her eyes were closed momentarily. The wolfess decided not to say anything until her eyes reopened then she dropped the rabbit and spoke, "Hungry?"
"Listen to my words." Behold, I think.

As she looked around she noticed another wolf as she stopped and dropped a rabbit asking was she hungry. Snow didn't know really what to say. Not many wolves payed her any attention and if they did they were teasing her. She looked the female over realizing she was another scout member. Then her eyes darted to the ground as she answered. "I..um..no" Her voice was quiet though she knew she could make if powerful. But she grew up knowing better to raise her voice to a wolf. She listened as her belly growled in protest.
Okay so maybe she was a bit hungry she hadn't really eaten since well actually two days ago. She had had spent the two days scouting the territory so she wouldn't have to be at the dens waiting for an order to be given. "Maybe just a little" she then replied her eyes still not leaving the ground.

"I..um..no" Briar peered closely at the dog before her. The quiet and unsure answer was an indicator that perhaps her answer wasn't completely true. The growling belly was also another indicator and the she-wolf nearly let a smile come onto her face but she hid it.
"Should eat." With that the dull-pelted female nudged the rabbit closer to the dog. She was sorry that it wasn't more but she hadn't known that she would be meeting a hungry canine. Briar wasn't a hunter, after all, she just happened to be decent at it because of her dull coat.
Soon Briar's own eyes found the ground as she looked downwards. She wasn't the best at these social situations, Blackberry had been her aid when she'd had to talk to others. Now it was just up to her though... However, no words came to mind and she just ended up shuffling her paws awkwardly as she waited for the other female to eat.
"Listen to my words." Behold, I think.

She swallowed as she breathed in her eyes not leaving the ground till she heard the female say she should eat. Snow watched her nudge the rabbit to her and she she could feel her mouth watering at the scent of the rabbit. Her chocolate eyes went back to the female for a moment. Why was she willing to share her kill? It confused her. But then again it didn't because there were a few members in the pack that would like to see dogs treated as equal. "Thanks" she said her head going down to eat.
She ate the rest of the rabbit and then looked back up saying "My name's Snowfoot but the other dogs call me Snow" She glanced around then relaxed a bit since it seemed that the female she stood in front of her wouldn't harm her. "Can I ask of yours?" she said quietly.
"I speak." I think.

Briar lifted her eyes slightly to watch the dog hungrily eat. She wondered how long it had been since the female had had a decent meal. Did she not know how to properly hunt? It wouldn't surprise her, dogs weren't taught skills that weren't absolutely necessary. "Welcome."
Her ears pricked as she heard the female's voice once more as she gave her name. Snowfoot? She'd heard the name before but never actually seen the dog enough to put it with a face. "Am Briar. Don't have any nicknames." A slight pause before continuing. "Nice to meet you, Snow." She was going to say Snowfoot but why not just shorten it? She wished she had friends to shorten her name.
"Listen to my words." Behold, I think.

Alari eyed the two canines in front of her, her nose twitching. One was her own kind and the other a...dog. Her ears moved back and forth on her head as she studied them both. She was quite unsure of what to do about this situation. It was just rare: wolves sharing food with dogs. She had been raised to believe that dogs were their slaves and had no right to live. But this wolf showed that she wasn't raised as Alari had been.
As Alari listened more to the conversation, she learned that the wolf was named Briar and the dog Snowfoot. She sneered at the very name. Snowfoot. What a name.
She slowly crept out the bushes she hid in, head high and tail higher. "Well," she chuckled, "This is a rare event. A wolf sharing with a dog. I've seen everything now."

She listened to the female say she was welcome and then say her name was Briar and she didn't have a nickname. The tibetan mastiff slightly tilted her head saying "Now that is not true" She gave a kind smile as Briar said it was nice to meet her. "I can see a nickname already....Bri." It was short and she repeated the nickname a few times in her mind before saying "Yes, I think Bri is a good nickname for you..." Then she added quickly "that is if you like it?" The wind blew and she breathed in then looked toward the bushes hearing another female speak.
Her chocolate eyes caught sight if another wolf and her body tensed again. This new wolf was not apart of Reaper. Her rump left the ground as she heard the female say "This is a rare event. A wolf sharing with a dog. I've seen everything now." She slightly moved to stand a bit closer Briar. Though both of them were scouts Snow's life meant nothing to a wolf. Snowfoot was sure the female wouldn't attack but one could never be to careful. Her jaws opened saying to the new female "A rare event for me to see a wolf such as yourself tresspassing. A dog like myself can only think she wishes to join?" Her voice seemed a bit harsh at the end.
"I speak." I think.

"Now that is not true" Not true? How was it not true? Briar's gray eyes finally lifted to watch the dog before here as the canine continued speaking. Bri, eh? She didn't mind it at all, it made her think of how friends would shorten each others names. Friends. Was this dog going to end up being her friend? It would definitely be different if this turned out to be true, other wolves probably wouldn't approve but Briar didn't care. Most didn't approve of such a small wolf being out on her own but Briar didn't care about what they thought either. "Yes. Yes... I... like it." Hmph, look at her using the famous "I". Usually her fragmented sentences left out the use of identifying pronouns but now she couldn't help but use it.
A rustling in some bushes caused the wolf's head to turn. Who was this female? Briar had never seen her before and a cautionary sniff told her that the wolf was not of the pack yet she was on packlands... Trespasser.
The wolfess nodded her head in assent to Snow's words. "Yes, and if not. Why are you here?" She spoke coldly at the newcomer. Trespassers were not exactly warranted here if they weren't looking to join.
"Listen to my words." Behold, I think.

Alari giggled at the Snowfoot's tone. "Don't get it twisted," she said, "It's just that I'm used to wolves acting superior to dogs. I just happened to be looking for a nice meal and I scented that meal you are now feasting on. I really meant no harm." And just to make her words true her stomach growled. The female smiled apologeticly.
She tasted the air for any trace of some prey lurking in the area. She picked up the fresh, musky scent of elk. Perfect. "Well, if you'd excuse me, I smell a herd not to far from here. You may help me, but that's only if you wish." Alari simply said and sped off in the direction of food.

The female dog smiled abit more when Briar said she liked the nickname. Then her attention went back to the other wolf as she said that she was used to wolves powering over dogs. It made sense. Most wolves in Terra were raised to think dogs were lower than them. She glanced at Bri as she spoke then looked back at the female as she heard her stomach growl and then smile apologetically. Snow couldn't help releasing a sigh as she said "I apologize myself. You were raised to believe what your parents were raised to believe as well"
Her body untensed as she moved to sit back down and then she bent down finishing off the rabbit and looked back at the other female as she said "Well, if you'd excuse me, I smell a herd not to far from here. You may help me, but that's only if you wish." Snow watched her speed off and she glanced at Bri saying "Well, I am still a bit hungry. How about we give her some help. I don't like hunting much but here's the oppurtunity to get a meal" Standing up she shook her massive body before following after the other female.
"I speak." I think.

For a moment Briar simply did what she did best, which was observe. She didn't have anything extra to add so why not just watch? It was how you learned, anyway. True enough the other wolf's stomach let out a growl to show that she was truly hungry. Well, Briar would feel bad if she didn't allow the other wolf to eat after she'd just fed Snow. Besides, it was spring and there was plenty of prey in the territory.
When the wolfess turned to head towards the deer Briar glanced up at her dog companion with a questioning look. Silently asking what her opinion on the subject was. "Well, I am still a bit hungry. How about we give her some help. I don't like hunting much but here's the oppurtunity to get a meal" Well, that settled it.
"Alright, can help." With that she rose to her feet as well and gave her much smaller pelt a shake. She followed behind the larger canine as they headed over to give aid to the other wolf.
"Listen to my words." Behold, I think.
